A Travel Stylist reader recently wrote in and asked if I knew where to find the tastiest fish tacos in Los Angeles. So, here's my pick. It's called The Best Fish Tacos of Ensenada (I swear, I'm not making the name up!). Do you know much about it?
I kind of dig the bare bones of this space. It looks like a quirky tiki hut - super unassuming, no frills decor (except for its cheery underwater mural) and a simple little patio out front. And I really do relish the thought of actually having these made-to-order fish and shrimp tacos the moment I land, fried and grilled to golden perfection.
And let me tell you about the great little condiment bar. Oh, it's DIY fixings which are quite delish... I love their salsas, crema magica and the 'hot guac', which part guacamole and part hot salsa. I call that genius, no? Lots of fresh options here, so go with what inspires you!
A great bang for your buck, and plus they have a lovely corkage policy. You can BYOB as long as you give one to the guy working the register. And with a bodega a 1/2 block away, you can't beat the chill ambiance factor.
Which taco spot would you give the respect and attention it deserves in your hometown?

There are a lot of great Taco trucks to be discovered in Echo Park...along side streets and behind supermarkets..some just pull up for a few hours. The best take pride in their food and make a it a family affair. In Los Feliz Best Fish Taco of Ensenada is a great fish taco and the fresh condiments are as delicious as they are colorful. The ladies who work behind the counter are always warm, and they have a good horchata to wash it all down.

Back in the day when I was living in LA and had a hankering for solid Mexican food on the cheap, I would make the trip to Senor Fish/Eagle Rock where they had these amazing fish burritos. Charbroiled and fresh, they serve up your choice of fish (halibut, mahi mahi...) with all the right mix of fixings. Check it out: http://senorfish.net/
